Anna in the Tropics
by Nilo Cruz

Directed by Bridget Dougherty

Set in 1929, just before the Depression, Anna in the Tropics centers on a Cuban American family and the cigar factory that provides their livelihood in Ybor City, Florida. Told as a romantic allegory, the show raises questions about the nature of the American dream, the mechanization of the American worker, and the place of literature and intellect in a consumer based society. Anna in the Tropics was the 2003 Pulitzer Prize winner for drama.

Cigar smoking done during performance.

This is the Philadelphia/Delaware County area premier of this show.

Wilbur meets Charlotte in Charlotte's Web

Directed by Kristy Boyer Chen

Admission $5

Wilbur the pig knows he will be pork chops in the fall unless his friend Charlotte the spider can think of a way to change the farmer’s mind. A classic children’s story that will delight all ages, presented with a bit of a twist. We've called upon an aerialist to play Charlotte – so the clever spider really is suspended above the stage by her “web”.

Love-Lies-Bleeding
by Don DeLillo

Directed by James Carroll

Love-Lies-Bleeding, by Don DeLillo, tells the story of last act in the life of a charismatic artist – as witnessed by three who have felt that charisma: his third wife, his second wife, and his son by his first wife. It is the most unusual of families, in the most unusual setting, trying to find ways to talk about the ultimate human experience.

The play gently (but relentlessly) reveals their past and their purposes. Does the artist need his family to help him die? Or does his family need him to die? And how can they tell which, if either, is true? This is a quiet, poetic work of great theatrical intensity.

Contains adult language and situations.

April 16, 17, 23, 24, 2010 - 8:00 PM

Admission $10
